Taro root is a vegetable used in a variety of cuisines around the world. It has a mild, nutty taste, starchy texture, and nutrition benefits that make it a healthier alternative to other root vegetables like potatoes. Taro root is commonly added to savory dishes or fried as a snack, but it can also add creaminess to sweet recipes.

This Roasted Taro Root recipe is very easy to make and can be served as a side dish as a substitute for potato chips. In this recipe, Taro Root is peeled, chopped into thin slices and roasted in the oven until it turns crisp. These roasted taro roots can be served as a side dish or as a snack.

What you’ll need to make Roasted Taro Root

  • Taro Root
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Turmeric
  • Paprika

How to make Roasted Taro Root with step by step photos & instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350° F. Peel and slice the taro root into round chips.

2. Take a bowl, add the sliced taro root, turmeric, paprika and oil. Combine until all the taro root slices are coated well.

3. Spread the taro root slices on a baking sheet evenly.

4. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 20 – 30 minutes until they turn crispy.

5. Serve as a side dish or with a salad.

Notes

  • You can also roast the taro root in a skillet on stove top to make it faster.
  • You can bake them until you get a desired consistency – crispy or until just done.
  • Taro root make a good substitute for potato or sweet potato chips or fries.

Step 1
