Why should salsa always be with tomatoes? Here’s a new unconventional approach to making a salsa fun and delicious as well. Orange Salsa – fresh, tangy, sweet, juicy and citrus salsa.
I used navel orange for this recipe but mandarins or sweet oranges also work well. To make the recipe quicker and simpler I used the halved orange chunks, but if you have kids who are not a great fan of the fibrous membrane of orange, you can choose to segment the orange chunks and use them instead.
This Orange salsa pairs great with tacos, tortilla chips or can be served as a salad as well.
What you’ll need to make Orange Salsa
- Oranges
- Onion
- Strawberry
- Lemon Juice
- Orange Zest
- Jalapeno pepper
- Black Pepper
- Salt
- Fresh Cilantro
- Microgreens
- Scallions
- Grated Coconut (optional)

How to make Orange Salsa with step by step photos & instructions
1. Combine orange chunks, chopped strawberry, chopped onion and chopped jalapeno together.
2. Then add black pepper, salt and microgreens. Combine well.
3. Add cilantro, chopped scallion, orange zest and lemon juice. Combine everything together well.
4. Garnish with more microgreens, orange zest and grated coconut. Serve it as is or with tacos or tortilla chips.
Notes
- You can add tomato and pomegranate seeds for extra flavor.
- I used navel oranges for this recipe but feel free to use any kind of orange available to you. Also grapefruit would be a great substitute for orange in this recipe.

Ingredients
- 2 Oranges, peeled and cut into chunks
- ½ cup Onion, finely chopped
- ½ cup Strawberry, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp Orange Zest
- ½ tsp Jalapeno pepper, minced
- ¼ tsp Black Pepper
- Salt, as required
- 1 tbsp Fresh Cilantro
- ½ cup Microgreens
- 1 tbsp Scallions, chopped

Directions
- Step 1
- Combine oranges, strawberry, onion, lemon juice, orange zest, jalapeno pepper, microgreens, scallions, cilantro, black pepper and salt in a large bowl. Toss everything together.
- Step 2
- Garnish with more microgreens, orange zest and grated coconut. Serve it as is or with tacos or tortilla chips.
