JUMP TO RECIPE

Who wouldn’t love to make homemade-halloween treats, when it takes just a few minutes to make with no-baking or no-cooking involved. The Chocolate Pudding Cups are my version of halloween dirt cups but with chocolate cake instead of oreo cookies. I love these chocolate pudding cups because they’re not only super easy to make, but they’re also amazingly delicious.

The options for toppings are endless when it comes to halloween treats. For this halloween treat, I’d like to top with pumpkin candies, marshmallows, gummy worms, bone-shaped candies, spider candies, paper headstones, candy ghosts or creepy zombie hands.

What you’ll need to make Chocolate Pudding Cups

For Pudding:

  • Instant chocolate pudding mix
  • Cocoa Powder
  • Whole Milk
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk, canned
  • Cool Whip topping, thawed
  • Vanilla extract
  • Chocolate cake, baked & cooled
  • Pudding Cups

For Decorating:

  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Bamboo skewers
  • Candy pumpkins

How to make Chocolate Pudding Cups with step by step photos & instructions

1. In a large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix, milk, and sweetened condensed milk until smooth.

2. Gently fold in whipped topping and mix until it’s combined well without leaving any streaks.

3. Take a pudding cup, line the bottom layer of the cup with a thin slice of chocolate cake piece.

4. On top of the chocolate cake layer, add the pudding mix slowly into the cups. Place the pudding cups in the refrigerator until the pudding sets.

5. Remove the pudding cups from the refrigerator and top with crumbled chocolate cake.

6. Decorate with marshmallow and pumpkin candy. Refrigerate until you are ready to serve.

Notes

  • The chocolate cake can be substituted with Oreo cookie crumbs.
  • You can skip or adjust cocoa powder as per your taste.
  • You can substitute milk with warm water.
  • These are best when fresh, but you can store leftovers in the fridge for 1-2 days, covered.
