You can find a lot of store bought candies for Valentine’s Day but a simple homemade candy treat can impress your loved one. These Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts are very easy to make at home that everybody loves.
You do not need any special equipment to make these, you’ll just need some fresh strawberries, knife, chocolate melts and toothpicks. All you have to do is slice the strawberries into half carve them into heart shape, slip in a tooth pick, dip them in chocolate, add some toppings and enjoy!

What you’ll need to make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts
- Fresh Strawberries
- Chocolate Melts (while and dark)
- Toothpicks
- Coconut Oil
- Toppings – Pistachios, Pecans, Sprinkles
How to make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts with step by step photos & instructions
1. Wash and pat dry the strawberries with paper towels.
2. Slice the strawberries into half from top. At the top cut a small V-shape. Repeat the same with all the strawberry slices.
3. Now insert a toothpick at the bottom of the strawberries.
4. In a microwave safe bowl, heat the chocolate melts for 30 seconds, give a quick stir and heat for 30 minutes more until smooth. Add a teaspoon of oil and mix well.
5. Now dip the strawberries in the melted chocolate and add the toppings of your choice. Set aside for 10 – 15 minutes until the chocolate sets and firms.
Notes
- You can choose to coat the whole strawberry of just half as per your choice.
- Adding a teaspoon of oil gives the chocolate shiny and runny texture.
- If you think the melted chocolate is turning thick, you can reheat it again.
- Smooth out the chocolate drips by tapping the strawberries as soon as you dip them in the melted chocolate.
